Morning afterthoughts

I realised that my previous thoughts were quite on the negative side and for a short while it put me in a low mood. Then I went to the gym and had a great workout and some laughs with the Coach. It is remarkable how quickly physical activity and endorphins can improve your mood.

Life is not binary. It is rarely black or white, but a wide variety of shades and colours. Behaviours exhibited by people can change, but in my opinion, it is futile or at least frustrating to try to change the actions of those with whom we don't have direct contact. Yes, the genocides in Gaza, the war in Ukraine and the conflict in Sudan are terrible and must end, but I don't feel I could have a meaningful influence on Natanhau’s, Putin’s or the oppressors in Africa's behaviour.

I can however start a positive change in my immediate environment. I can advocate for the better recognition of veterinary nurses and support staff in my industry. I can continue to talk about the concept of unconditional positive regard and the Chimp Theory. I can continue changing the lives of pets and pet parents. I can educate myself to better understand everything around me and I can keep the discourse open about important ideas.
